The jail plan. Turn our prisons into factories
Are you as angry as I am that thanks to these FREE TRADE agreements, we are turning countries that hate us into economic AND military superpowers? HOW DO YOU HAVE FREE TRADE WITH A COUNTRY THAT PAYS IT WORKERS THE AVERAGE OF $ 200.00 A MONTH OR LESS AND EXPECT TO KEEP GOOD PAYING JOBS HERE?
Am I a protectionist...you bet. Protect our jobs, our way of living and our future. Well, it is to late for that now unless we reverse course. This plan, I believe, may help.
Let's look at the facts:
WE HAVE FREE HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA FOR A SELECT GROUP...THEY ARE CALLED INMATES!
That is right, go to jail and get health care paid for by the very society that you victimized in the first place.
How about this?
Have the prisons in America produce products that we do not make here anymore. Lord knows, there are enough to choose from! Have the inmates do the work in abandoned factories and produce items that now have MADE IN CHINA or VIETNAM or other countries on them. The profits from the sales of DOMESTICALLY produced goods could pay for the inmates as well as pay more guards, and even improve the inmates living conditions. Who would this hurt? A lot of other countries that hate us anyway.
We could do this with all federal, state and county jails and once up and running, we would be able to save billions on the costs of our prison system and I would bet, even have some left over to hand over to the fat cats on wall street (if we let our elected officials have their way).
Could you imagine, buying a TV that says "made in America" or a pair of shoes with that on the label. It is perfect. We can stop being victims to prisoners and make them work to provide
the general population with reasonably priced goods. Plea bargains could be a thing of the past. We could, if this is done right, have money left over to go towards our budget deficit. Of course, to keep Washington's hands off of it, we should vote on and support a balanced budget amendment before they can take this money and just dig us in deeper!
This plan could take the burden of prisons off of states and counties nationwide, provide more jobs as well as get our economy going again. An economy where "made in America" is a big part of it. The states and counties could balance budgets and even possibly pay more into our dying education system. More tools, more teachers and a better educated populace. WHY NOT????
I know that a lot of people will complain that this is just another big government program and you are right. Social Security is a big government program and if it were run right, it could have been great. The jail system is already a big government program and quite frankly, I don't trust Washington anymore nor do I trust big business. I really don't know which is worse, I just know that we as a nation are heading for bankruptcy if we don't turn this ship around.
There are those that will claim that if we make inmates work, we are forcing slavery. To them I say...bull crap! We are the slaves when we have to get robbed, beaten, burglarized, raped or worse and then watch our predator get three square meals a day and medical care while the victims are often left with life long injuries and mental trauma. In the mean time the victim is told to pay the taxes and foot the bill.
I think that this could work and change things for us FAST. Anyone in Washington have the guts??? Maybe with a plan like this, we could all get health care...
