Postal Service Cutback
Submitted by JRM of Dallas, TX
I am retired from the postal service and have an idea that could save a lot of money for the USPS.
HOW ABOUT THIS?
Eliminate the Saturday mail delivery service. All those highly wages (Some at overtime) and miles *waste of gas) to deliver the mail. Now with emails and instant messaging, do we really need mail
six days a week? I haven't figured up what it would save, but I bet it would be substantial. Also, I realize that the rules would have to change, but why not eliminate the Saturday delivery, raise the price of stamps to .55 each and use the extra money to chip in towards the deficit? I know that it would take a big regulation change on behalf of the Federal Government, but it would help I think. Just a thought ...don't kill the messenger.
