School 4 days a week
Submitted by Anonymous
It seems to me that we should cut the school week down from 5 days to 4 longer days.
HOW ABOUT THIS?
Have schools go on a 4 day week. This would save 20% of the fuel costs and probably 20-25% on the maintenance costs of running buses. Not having to heat or cool the classroom an extra day would also conserve energy since the thermostats could be lowered in the winter three days a week instead of two and the same for running the air conditioning in states where it heats up in March. All of the school employees could save money by not having to drive a fifth day. It would be like a pay raise. I know that a lot of working parents would complain because they would have to hire
Thanks for the submission.
I also felt the four day work week was a good idea. Amazingly, some states have been going the other way and taken some agencies from 4 days a week to 5

babysitters or pay for child care an extra day but people are generally resilient and it might even get employers who are able to look at a four day workweek also. Instead of laying off teachers and making the remaining ones be responsible for larger, less personal classrooms, maybe we could keep our teachers or even hire more. I feel that education is something that we should never sacrifice on. No, I am not a teacher, but I know what a good education can do. Aren't our children worth the investment?
